Biography, Education and Training

The majority of my recent research focuses on the demography, life history, and understanding of fishery impacts on Pacific salmon, particularly Chinook salmon. I also have a strong interest in predator-prey interactions and ecosystem-based management. I am heavily involved in the delivery of scientific advice to managers and am interested in better ways of communicating and incorporating uncertainty and risk tolerance into management applications of scientific results.

My primary employer is NOAA Fisheries Southwest Fisheries Science Center. I serve or served on the Pacific Fishery Management Council's Scientific and Statistical Committee (including a term as chair from 2015-2018), Southern Resident Killer Whale Wokrgoup, and Sacramento River Fall Chinook Workgroup.
